satire about child poverty. i mean it made its points and it wasn't wrong about the callousness of the rich and of a society allowing people to live in such conditions that they are stuck in generational poverty. times must have been very grim. 

I remember the first time I read this was in high school English. The teacher just handed it out and gave us no context, no mention that the lesson was on satire. We took turns reading through it; and as we progressed, the gasping and groaning commenced.

Truly one of the few highlights of secondary school!

Beautiful and relevant writing to close off 2024. Why eat the rich, who provide so much value to society, when we can eat the infants of the poor who are leeches en devenir to society?
