Oh my god this book is fucking amazing! I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to read it via winning a Goodreads giveaway!
The concept was fascinating, the execution was phenomenal, and the characters were extremely compelling. I absolutely loved watching everything unfold and the suspense of not knowing what happened in the past and where the story was going to lead was thrilling. 10/10
The gradual unmasking of an abuser and the coinciding growth in confidence and support developing in other characters struggling with their pasts as well as their presents... chef's kiss, remarkable.
And the romance element was handled in the best way possible, you love to see it! We stan!
Honestly I could rave so much about this book, but the point is, go read it!

This was such a fantastically woven story that had so many unexpected and delightful twists.
I really enjoyed the main characters; at first I was worried about it being split POV between the hero, heroine, and a third party but it really amplified the story and wasn’t confusing like I initially feared.
I love how all the individual stories wove together and the touch of mysticism that was refreshing and not over the top like some psychic stories can be.
I also really like that the romance wasn’t the main thread (and was a fade to black at the very end only) and despite that fact the hero was genuinely good and wholesome and soft, and many times was totally content with if things didn’t turn out romantically which is something I find contemporary fiction to sorely lack. I love that he was this big strong self-admitted-hero-complex gumshoe but his life experiences had shaped him into a considerate and sweet man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, but also makes a point to empower and even defers to the women in his life in respectful ways. Usually if a hero is good and wholesome like that, it’s because he’s in pursuit of the heroine, not because he’s just a nice dude by default. It made me want to believe there are men like Hawk out there.

I really liked this book. The story drew me in right away. I had been in a slump trying to find the next book to read. I went through a couple that were DNFs. Finally, I decide to try this book by Kerry Anne King.
Nicole has a gift/curse. She feels energies from objects and compel her to pick them up, and then leave them in another locations. She doesn't feel she is stealing; she is relocating items. She believes since she not taking them for herself, she isn't a thief.
She has no support from her family. Her husband is an ass and is using Nicole.
Ultimately, Nicole moves a simple paperback, and all Hell breaks loose. Great character interactions, they had great chemistry; good and bad at times. Some characters were bitchy, and got called on it, and it made them like each other more. I'm going to try another book by this author. I liked the small magic involved in the story.

What an interesting read! I'm sure the idea that objects have energy on this earth is not new, but it's new to me. Nicole's character is fun and what she does is thought-provoking. Characters development was hit and miss. Kent's character was predictable and boring. Andrea's is amazing and intriguing. However, I do think in some way Hawk and Nicole's relationship is awkward. Perhaps, Hawk's introduction into Nicole's life and how his character developed was awkward. I can't pinpoint it; however, it doesn't read smoothly as the others. Overall, it was worth the read.
Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kerry Anne King’s novel Other People’s Things is like taking a wrong turn only to find yourself at an unexpectedly delightful destination. The book starts out as if it’s going to be a fairly predictable tale of a troubled woman trying to turn her life around but slowly transforms into a unique story of magic and redemption.
To the outside world Nicole Wood is a wee-bit crazy. She’s compelled to move objects. Even when she knows moving an object will cause trouble and her logical mind tells her not to do it, she can’t help herself. Sometimes they are valuable and sometimes they aren’t. She claims she moves things because they want to be somewhere else. It’s an unlikely explanation, hard for anyone to believe.
Her family members offer varying degrees of support: her mother with love, her sister with a job, her husband with legal help. But they don’t believe her. Even her best friend doesn’t quite get it. But what if this isn’t all in her head? Why would objects want to be moved? And who would bother to try to find out?
This was an enjoyable read with just enough suspense to make it often tough to put down. For the most part the characters are multi-dimensional and realistic, often surprising the reader with their actions rather than going down predictable paths (particularly Hawk and Andrea).
Highly recommended for those seeking an above-average, moderately feel-good read in which nobody dies.

I enjoyed this quirky story, wondering whether Nicole was a kleptomaniac or suffering from a life changing trauma. Nicole has been accused repeatedly of stealing, but she claims that she does t steal, but relocates items to where they let her know they belong. She doesn’t really understand it herself, but she knows she never lies and doesn’t keep anything for herself. Her soon to be ex husband is on her case, as he is a manipulative man, but when he hires Hawk, a PI to follow Nicole, the story breaks open when Hawk realizes who is telling the truth. There are appealing secondary characters, with their own stories, and I did not want to finish and lose these characters. Highly recommend and thank NetGalley for the opportunity.
I DEVOURED this book in 2 days. It’s a multi faceted fantastic mystery!!! I had a few people figured out but this novel kept me guessing. The characters (okay all but 1) were easy to like and I loved their complexity. Nicole’s trauma wasn’t completely addressed, it’s talked about several times but as a social worker with a MH degree I would’ve liked more about that. Book #18 in 2022

Shit Shifter - But lifter - Catalyst for change
What do I mean? Few people trust their gut wholeheartedly. Logic, fear, anxiety, judgment - whatever it is takes over, and the thing you "felt like doing" doesn't happen because you let something else override the action.
What if you trusted your gut more? Took action because it felt right? How would your life be different?
I have to force myself to read fiction because logic tells me I want to always learn more. The thing is - I learn a lot from fiction too. In every fiction book, I learn something - and in some way, the character is relatable to me or something within my life. This book is no exception. When I say Shit Shifter - But Lifter - Catalyst for change, I mean that when we take fear of looking or feeling stupid off the table, you never know what may happen. Be bold, try something new. You can't change your shit if you let buts aka excuses stand in your way.
Read the book - discover the story and allow fiction to give you the push you need to trust your gut.
