Simply, this book is a must read. Read it. Grab a pen for your journal, space to be alone with yourself and absorb the information and process it. You will be changed, and the world, and you will be better for it.

Ms Ricketts book presented me - a cisgender white woman who considers herself feminist - with perspective and info that I’ve heard before, in “Whyte Feminism” and “Against White Feminism:”
But the info was delivered thru a different lens and landed even deeper.
But what I really love about this book is the coaching question s she offers at the end of each chapter.
Listen, this book is no nonsense. She’s not sugar coating anything, and she shouldn’t have to.
But I know it’s written with heart and love because these reflection questions what give us something tangible to work with. It’s not a a lecture in doing better, but offers a roadmap on what we can actually do to do better.

THANK YOU for this informative, eye opening, and actually helpful book.

I was recommended this book by my therapist, and I understand why. It's a wonderful book for someone who likes the guides meditations and journal exercises and might need that to internalize the inner work being done in this book. Rachel Ricketts also uses a really approachable and informal writing style that is very charming and inviting.

I think it could be great for someone that wants an approachable and more personal way to work through internalized racism, misogyny, anti-blackness, and transphobia. However, the style just didn't work for me since I've read a lot of other books that go into more depth about the social and systemic underpinnings of white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

Absolutely necessary

This is one if the best anti-racist books I've read. It's comprehensive, thoughtful, direct, emotional, spiritual and beautifully written. It is one I will go back to again and again. If you read nothing else this year, read this.

This should have been right up my alley, but I tried for months and simply couldn't get past the jargon. At some point, you are just shielding your ideas with language instead of sharing them and Ricketts hit that point.
