An interesting review of the inaccuracies in the book can be found here:
http://www.ankn.uaf.edu/iks/hail/MamaDoYouLoveMe.html
The author of the review recommended the book if a discussion of the inaccuracies were also to take place. Honestly most of the inaccuracies would have had no bearing on the value of the book for my son when he was a preschooler, so I do not feel regret that I read it to him without having this additional knowledge to discuss at that time.

In addition to a sweet story about a mother’s unconditional love, the illustrations and vocabulary are starters in teaching about traditional Inuit culture of Alaska thousands of years ago. While neither the author nor illustrator have tribal affiliations, a note on the dedication page says the McCord Museum of Canadian History in Montreal checked the manuscript for accuracy in its portrayal of Inuit culture.

I just discovered Chronicle Kids is willing to have us do pretty open online sharing, so yay Chronicle Books, and here I come to buy a whole bunch!

Incredibly sweet, beautifully-illustrated board book.

This is one of my favorites. I have read this book almost more than any other; I could recite it in my sleep along with Goodnight Moon and anything by Sandra Boynton. Maggie is almost three which means that she is on the cusp of leaving the board book stage. While I love to see my babies advance and experience new stages, I will miss reading and re-reading this simple phrase: 'I will love you for ever and for always, because you are my dear one.'

sweet

Universal theme of a toddler testing her limits, but artfully includes rich education on the world of an Alaskan Inuit.
Thanks, Becky!

I quite enjoyed this Inuit version of a child testing the limits of her mothers love. This book is akin to runaway bunny in overall story but I really loved the cultural aspect that was weaves into this tale as well.

This book is beautiful and sweet but I’m disappointed to read the reviews and see that the author and illustrators are not indigenous and did not do thorough research of the culture. It appears they have additional stories about other cultures as well.
