Love love LOVED this.
I listened to the audiobook. Just excellent. And a great follow-up to Rosamund Pike's telling of p+p earlier this year.
Well worth a listen.

Second review of 2021! Having never read the original (I know, I know) I wasn’t sure what to expect or honestly if they changed anything besides the addition of zombies to the story. While I enjoyed Elizabeth’s character and Mr. Darcy everybody else I could have done without. I know this was meant to be a reimagined story but I can’t help but wonder if the text was changed to more updated language if I would have enjoyed it more. Reading it in the verbiage that it was I assume originally written in made it difficult and I would even go to far to say a chore. ⭐️⭐️

I know many people (especially die-hard Austen fans) have been less than impressed with this book but to be honest, I greatly enjoyed it. The core of the story remains the same with issues of class prejudice and detrimental pride driving the novel but the addition of the zombies gives an additionally delightful antagonist. The character of Elizabeth Bennett becomes so much more intriguing, especially as a feminist icon. Fitzwilliam Darcy's road to love for Elizabeth gains more depth in a way that is both ridiculous and endearing.
Before judging how Austen's legacy might be tarnished, give the book an honest try!

A dark and twisty take on the classic novel. Funny, surprising, and delightful. If you ever felt guilty for not loving the original then this book is one that I suggest you pick up. If you are a die-hard Austen fan then you may not like it, but I thought it was splendid, making the classic something I actually wanted to read.
