Absolutely cringe. The Bennets are all bloodlusty fellows who spend their time on martial arts and sharpening weapons, and are annoyed by their mother who is sticking to the traditions from before the zombie-virus outbreak and would like for their daughters to be married. The writing style annoys me as well.

Pride and prejudice is my favourite book of fiction. For some reason I thought I might enjoy this variation? Totally ridiculous and may I say, sacrilegious. Jane is turning in her grave.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was something else. I loved the idea of taking a classic story and adding incredible brain-eating action, that's why I read this book. I have to say though, it was decent at best. That could have something to do with the fact that there were parts in the book that just dragged on and bored me to tears. I can only assume these are the parts that were close to or exactly like the original. Jane Austen, if you were still alive, I'd punch you in the face and let you know that no one cares about proper English manners and who's manner is better than who's. If I had to read the original book for real, I'd probably kill myself to end my own misery. That being said, the parts that were added with the zombies and ninjas and whatnot were really fun. Seth Grahame-Smith did an excellent job of blending boring English romance with hilarious zombie gore. My only concern was that there just wasn't enough of it. I felt that there should have been at least twice as much zombie killing than there was. Now, I know there was a story to tell on top of everything, but the only good thing about a zombie stories is seeing the zombies be killed with extreme prejudice (no pun intended). Overall, it was a decent book with a few really great scenes, but I'd only recommend this book to true zombie fanatics who won't mind wading through pages of mindless drivel about who fancies who, and who might get offended by it.
