The writing style was fine but the plot was ridiculous..
If your child suddenly stopped leaving the house and speaking from one moment to the next, wouldn't you consult a therapist? All the adults were awfully stupid and incompetent.. And don't get me started on the ending! How unbelievable was that?
I really don't know why this book has a 4.3 average rating..

Well written. Despite thinking the premise was juvenile, I was drawn into the story by the writer's characterization. The characters weren't enough to keep me enthralled. I became inpatient and toward the end really thought Maggie being mute had gone on too long. Why didn't this kid have a therapist? Her father was a professor! Why did the family just accept her mute-ness?
The story jumped around a bit, skipping years to get to the conclusion...
and suddenly it's okay and she can just talk without any medical intervention?
hmmm...

Good book
It's a good book but not the best one I read from this author. To me , the female character from the book was too selfish, i can not believe that she never talk ( write ) about what happened in the woods , maybe the first part I can still believe that her fears don't let her talk about it , but after all the years ( many years ) she still not tell to anybody, not even her best friend and boyfriend. Sorry if I can said something better, but that's just my opinion, I'm pretty sure there be others with different thoughts.

This whole series has been excellent. I laughed and cried. This book is another must read.
I really enjoyed this story. I was fasting for my holiday and I was in the mood for something sad but hopeful and this hit the spot. This story was heartbreaking but so beautiful. Find me a man like Brooks and I swear I'll never let him go!
If I'm reading contemporary romance, this is exactly how I like my books. This book takes you on a journey. We follow the relationship between Maggie and Brooks from the time they are basically tots to full-grown adults. Their love story isn't easy and that is what makes this such a good emotional read.
Maggie witnesses something terrible and from that day she is silent. Brooks, a family friend, feels like it's his fault that Maggie was out in the woods that day and got hurt. Maggie won't speak or tell a soul what happened that day. However, Brooks vows to be by her side, even when it's hard. On the outside, their relationship seems doomed from the start but to them, it's everything that they need to go on.
Absolutely loved this book.
