Schade.

I loved this book and how the two main characters understood and loved each other.
oh man, the only reason I'm not giving this one star is because it had some beautifully written quotes, but otherwise... this was not it. so damn unrealistic, from the band thing getting huge thanks to a youtube video, to this family never caring to treat and help maggie's trauma, like 20 years??? and you never thought to seek help??? and then her voice comes back and she's fluently speaking again after not using it for two decades?? that's just... nope
I’m torn because I loved this book in some ways but also was annoyed by it. I feel like it took too long to get past a certain point. I was frustrated with Maggie’s parents for not helping her or getting her help. They just accepted what was going on with her. I get like 20 years was too damn long for Maggie to snap out of it. But at the same time I loved the family, the band and Maggie and Brooks love. Moving on to the final books on the series. I have been waiting for that one.
This story had me giggling at the beginning. Maggie was so adorable. We all know I don't read blurbs, so I was just chugging along and Bam! This was a very emotional story. I loved all of the characters, well most of them. Some parts of the story frustrated the heck out of me, but I still loved it! I definitely recommend this and do yourself a favor and read the authors note!
jesus… this was such an emotional ride but so so worth it holy fuck
Apparently I ended 2015/began 2016 with Cherry's Loving Mr. Daniels, and I'm ending 2016/beginning 2017 with Cherry's The Silent Waters.
This one is difficult to rate...the writing deserves five stars alone, but I was so frustrated with the plot/characters that I have to give this book a 3/3.5 stars. By all means, if you're a fan of adult and new adult romance, read this series. You're 100% missing out if you go all your life without reading a Brittany Cherry book.
While I didn't enjoy this book as much as its predecessors, I'm still in love with this concept where Cherry utilizes the four elements to weave a story, and I loved the way she incorporated water into the story. But I don't really want to talk about how much I love Cherry's books, see my reviews for the other books in this series if you want that, this review, I'm talking about my frustrations, and BE WARNED FOR SOME SPOILERS THAT MIGHT SEEM VAGUE, BUT WILL PROBABLY ALTER YOUR READING EXPERIENCE IF YOU READ THEM.
1. The time jumps. Okay, I don't mind when authors jump around to certain stages of a character's life, sure I've read books where the book transcends an entire character's life, but they don't tell the reader the specific year. This book jumps from 2006 to 2016, which is realistic of course, and I thought the story was only going to be about Maggie and Brooks when they were 18 in 2016. So when the author jumped to 2026, I was really confused. And I'm sorry BUT I DON'T THINK SNAPCHATTING WITH DOG EARS ON IS GOING TO BE POPULAR IN 2026, or I hope not, I hope people have come to their senses by then. I mean I don't think snapchat is going to be a thing in 2026, so that was just weird, like 2016 met 2026.
2. The characters and plot. I'm going to combine these two because they're interwoven together in this story. I'm sorry, but what parent lets their child go 20 years without leaving the house? This is what I thought was so unrealistic in Nicola Yoon's Everything, Everything. I get that you want to protect your child, but you're doing the exact opposite. After Maggie left her house for the first time, her body should've had some sort of shock because her immune system is obviously shit. Same thing for when she started speaking again, scientifically, it'd have been difficult to talk without doing so for 20 years, but for Maggie it was just like a light switch turned from off to on. Also, the big plot twist at the end that I predicted 200 pages before was entirely rushed. For something that damaged Maggie's life for 20 years, she didn't have the reaction I was expecting. It was like it just happened, and then was swept under the rug.
I'm just disappointed in general. Don't get me wrong, I found this readable, but not as enjoyable as the previous two. Either way, I'm still super excited for the final book dealing with Earth, that's supposed to come out this Spring!
