So I loved this up until the ending. I liked the slow-building mystery and then i was hit with (ending spoilers)
Spoiler plagiarism as the twist?? I thought it was building up to a cancer diagnosis and that martyr was dying!! No, it was him being a plagiarist.
(spoilers over).
It made no sense given the build up. I do love the build up though.

"Meander" is this author's favorite word lol. Love the social commentary & the random spurts of vivid horrific imagery. I enjoyed the writing in this one significantly more than Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke, and there were several humorous parts in this as well, which took me by surprise in the midst of all the fuckery.

It’s actually so sad that I can’t justify giving this a higher review. I adore the author’s writing style. The prose in this story was really nice. I truly hated the lack of a solid plot and the novella inside this story was my least favorite part of it. Which is unfortunate, since it makes up a majority of the book.

The cover art of this book drew me in, and I had no idea that the author was the same as the one who wrote Things have gotten worse since we last spoke. I must add that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It took me a day and a half to read it. The two stories being told are very distinct from one another, but I loved how they were combined; it was kind of like an episode of Criminal Minds.

No plot, ✨just vibes✨

Por una parte, siento que no entendí; por otra, no hay mucho que entender.

Grotesco, interesante e inquietante en proporciones similares.

La historia de entre medio me pareció llamativa.

La verdad, este no es mi género.
