I really enjoyed this! I wasn't sure how it was going to end and it kept me intrigued the entire time. It moved at a good pace and is written well. 10/10 highly recommend! The high society elite seems like the A-dream, classy balls, exclusive access to your dream school and connections with the best of the best, but we learn through the pov's of six seniors of Excelsior Prep that the high society isn't all glitter and glamour.
Money, lies and drama in the world of the Legacy club where you can achieve your dreams, if you get in and if you survive. A spectacular story about the hidden truths inside the world of the rich and famous with dash of a murder mystery. The switching from counting down the days until the ball to snippets of interviews about what happened, gets you on the edge of your seat. Bit by bit you learn what happened, and the secrets each character keeps.
3.8 for me because there was lots of the standard drama, but it still got me on hook to find out how the characters were connected.

Not Goodman’s best but enjoyable none the less. I liked the look inside an elite club and aspect of NYC society. Each POV girl came from a different situation, Bernie from true inherited privilege, Isobel from working upper middle class family (with only a small boost from a great aunt inheritance), and Tori from a working class family. Each had their own secrets and difficulties, from family strife and a runaway mom to substance abuse and blackmail to money issues that may lose the family home. As they come together for the elite society the Legacies, their secrets start to spill over to each other and end in a complicated series of decisions and reveals. Do I feel Goodman leaned into some serious stereotypes about the wealthy? Yes, but it’s a book and having all those stereotypes converge made sense for the plot.
Overall, enjoyable and still keeps Goodman as an auto buy for me.

My favorite kind of YA thriller- multiple perspectives, multiple suspects, lots of drama. 4.5⭐️
The Legacies is Jessica Goodman’s best piece so far. Gossip Girl meets Pretty Little Liars and One of Us is Lying.
Bernie, Isobel, and Tori are all Legacy Club nominees, fighting for a life changing scholarship and the chance to prove that they belong in this world of elites, but then someone gets murdered and everything changes.
I really liked the three points of view as well as the flash forwards to the murder - not knowing who died until the very end was exciting and it kept me guessing. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this one. I thought I had it all figured out, but I never guessed what really happened. It was a fun, quick read and definitely worth picking up!

Jessica Goodman does it again!
The Legacies is VERY Gossip Girl. I literally felt like I could identify and match each character with the GG cast. And, well, I LOVE GG and I LOVED this book. A half star removed for the whole vagueness = mystery trope that sometimes feels like I’m unnecessarily lost just to build suspense, but overall this one is excellent and I’d def recommend for fans of YA thrillers set in fancy schools and, Obvs, GG fans.
