Another great summer read http://bookaweekwithjen.blogspot.com/2013/07/book-27-of-52-beautiful-day-by-elin.html
2.5 ⭐️
A cute enough story with some family drama that I LOVED, but there were too many selfish, self-centered characters for me to really get invested in the story.

I normally am a huge fan of Elin Hilderbrands book but this was just not it for me. The characters were HORRIBLE. The plot was okay, but the characters killed it for me.
I liked the story, was entertaining to keep my attention, but the characters need to get some help, especially the female characters who lacked self confidence, and were whiney. As for the Notebook, it seemed like a controlling mother from the grave.
From the inside cover of book: Jenna has planned her wedding according to the wishes of her late mother, who left behind the Notebook: specific instructions for ever detail of her youngest daughter's future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful Nantucket wedding that will unite the Carmichael and Graham families-but instead, things are falling apart. If only Jenna's mother had left directions for what to do about divorce, affairs, and other matters of the heart.
I picked up this book because I wanted something nice and light to read. I got it. This was a fun book where I laughed out loud a few times and almost teared up at other times. I guess that's what happens at weddings, right? Elin Hilderbrand did a great job writing this cast of characters. Usually I'm overwhelmed if there are too many characters in a story, but the way she wrote each person, and wrote "outtakes" and gave back stories, was perfectly done.
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting a fun, beach read! I'll definitely read more from this author!

Want a book about a bunch of depressing marriages with no real happy ending?? Here you go.
Great wedding read before my own wedding annniversary!
I love love love Elin Hilderbrand books! I also love weddings and wedding planning so this book was the perfect escape for me the last few weeks. Highly recommend.
This was an easy read about a wedding weekend on Nantucket and all the characters' trials and tribulations.
