I flew through this book. I loved the fact that Eric was in it more than Bill... although Eric did start to emulate a Bill-like attitude conveniently. My only hope is that we see more of an Eric/Sookie relationship while he is Eric, not some confused lost soul. I really enjoyed the addition of other mystical creatures into the book. The action was quick and too the point. This book was definitely a win for Charlaine Harris! I can't wait to read the next oen!

This book series got way better ever since Bill got out of the picture (or at least Sookie lost interest in him). More magical creatures, more power struggles and more romance. Again, Sookie is a sweetheart and I loved the fun, fast paced writing.

I think at this point, I'm just hate-reading this series. I really like the show (still watching season 7), and still feel that the characters are developed so much better on TV. This entry in the series features another throwaway, undeveloped villain, introduces some more forgettable bit players, etc. Will I continue reading the series? Maybe. After I read some other books to cleanse my palate ;)

๐Ÿ’ญ Overall thoughts:
For a reread it's been my favorite so far, but if I remember correctly it was my favorite from the original read too. I just love Eric, so for Sookie and Eric to have finally gotten together was the best. 5/5 โญ

โš ๏ธ SPOILERS IN FORM OF MY PLAY-BY-PLAY THOUGHTS โš ๏ธ

Insert Jason's were-panther girlfriend.

I honestly can say I don't remember what happened to Eric's memory..๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Oh yes.. the witches..

โ€œBig feet,โ€ Jason commented, and flashed me a look. โ€œIs the old saying true?โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

IDK why Sookie is surprised that Bud isn't doing anything.. Jason hasn't been missing for 24 hours yet..

If I remember correctly, Claudine is a fairy..

Alcide ๐Ÿ˜

Chapter 6 ๐Ÿ”ฅ definitely more detailed than any scene with Bill.

Calvin's proposition creeps me out..

Ugh. Debbie..

Bleh, I'm annoyed that nobody have Sookie a heads up that Bill was back.

Another reason to dislike Debbie so much. Helped torture Bill, even if I don't like him.

When Alcide abjures Debbie ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Pam finally explained why Bubba can enter places without an invitation, which explains how he got into Alcide's apartment to drop the Were..

Eric doesn't remember ๐Ÿ˜ž

Bum bum bum... Sookie finally found out that the Hotshot shifters are werepanthers..

Eric ever the gentleman buying Sookie things that she NEEDS.

Not as good as the first three books, but still enjoyable. I found the witches plot very flat. I wanted more about the werewolves. Still, it won't keep me away from the rest of the series.

Ok. I think this is my favourite purely for the alternate Eric and the chemistry between Sookie and Eric. I could read about them all day.

This one feels like the last book before things really start to jump the shark in this series. I do enjoy the topical stuff that is to follow but for this book, the character development between Sookie and Eric is great writing.

What I Did Like:
+Right away I like the opening of this one. It felt different enough from the first three to really get my attention.
+Did I cheer at the new romance? Yup, totally did. Saw it coming, still cheered. Slow burn, thatโ€™s what this felt like.
+I appreciate that Sookie is always willing to learn about other people/beings and other lifestyles. It seemed even more obvious in this one when she was forced to ask about Wicca, but it did make me realize that sheโ€™s open to learning about everyone.

Who Should Read This One:
Fans of the series, obviously.
Basically, if you like the idea of a spicier vampire/paranormal romance with a hint of danger youโ€™ll like this series.

My Rating: 3 Stars
This one is well done but, by this point, you really have to be into the series to enjoy this book.

Loved this book and the characters that were in it, can't wait to read the next one and see where we go from here. Trying to hold back so that I don't read them all too quickly though lol.
