In listened to the audio book version of this. At only 2 discs, it’s concise and well worth a listen. Lots of great bits of wisdom in here that all parents would do well to listen to.

I literally recommend everything she has written and recorded! You just cannot believe the impact this work has had on my understanding of myself and how I would like to proceed in life!

I cannot say more about Brene Brown and her insights on shame and vulnerability. She is remarkable for the work she has done and for communicating her findings to the rest of us to help us understand why we react the way we do to the many experiences of our lives. In this instance, she speaks to how we behave as parents, why we react the way we do emotionally to our children, and why our children are reacting the way they do in their experiences. She offers some awesome insights as to how we as parents can be more vulnerable to our children and raise them in an environment where they feel they can be vulnerable to us, where there is less shame about who they are. This is one of those seminars I plan to listen to on a regular basis, as it serves as a good reminder to who I want to be as a parent and what I need to do to cultivate the relationships I desire with my children.

I listened to this "book." It was more of a talk than a book. I'd like to listen to it again and take notes to more fully catch the many messages. Good info on shame vs guilt.

Really good content.

The audiobook sounded more like a podcast than a book which I didn’t care for at all.

Also, the author mentions only three studies, I believe, and otherwise just mentions all of the “research” she’s done. I’ve heard a lot of the same content in other books, so that’s why I think the advice in this book is legit.

So why five stars? The examples are the best. The collection of points is great to, and you’d hear the same things in other parenting books. However, I have yet to read so many good examples of said points.

A short and sweet audio book with soooo much value. I adore Brenè Brown and always learn something within her stories and the way she shares her research. A few of the stories in this book I felt like I have heard before in other books of hers, they seemed very familiar, but none the less it was a wonderful collection of information for parents and caregivers.
