I haven't read this book since I was a preteen, and I still love it. Reading as an adult I can immediately see all the ways Anne is 100% a kid with ADHD, and I related much more to Marilla in being somewhat overwhelmed by the abundance of Anne's personality. The emotional parts made me so much more emotional as an adult, and I absolutely sobbed at the big sad thing.

(Taking points off the rating for one part with some casual racism. Otherwise it would have been a 5 star read.)

This is one of my favourite childhood books and it still holds up. I listened to it slowly through the Sleepy Bookshelf Podcast which gave me all of the nostalgic feelings of falling asleep to the radio play as a child. I still loved all the things I loved before but gained a new appreciation for how natural Anne's coming of age was and how she matured while maintaining her wonderful personality. All of the other characters were just as loveable: Marilla, Matthew, Diana, Miss Stacey, Gilbert I could go on. This truly is my comfort read and I don't think it is the last time I will read it.

I wish I had liked this more! Some of Anne's bits just dragged out for so long. I loved the start and ending, but around 60% way through I felt quite bored. Maybe I thought that there would've been more adventure and less monologue. Loved the main characters so much!
I read this as an audiobook (loved the narrator).
