First in the series.

I'm not usually a fan of the older Miss Marple type protagonist, because I have a harder time identifying with them. But Pamela is a fellow knitter so I gave it a chance. And of course the cover was adorable, so it pulled me right in.

I'm glad I gave it a chance. It was a cute, fun book and a nice light, quick read. A super cozy Cozy, haha. The protagonist is likeable and she and the rest of her knitting group sound like folks I'd like to knit with.

I will definitely look for the next book in the series.

This is decent! It's not a witty, edge-of-your-seat mystery. Its a palette cleanser; solid writing, meh plot, non-existent character development - but it goes down easy and makes you want to keep reading. Its inoffensive. There's knitting, and cats.

This just wasn’t for me… I read it for a book club, I likely wouldn’t have picked it up otherwise. I actually almost DNF this at around 55% because I truly just didn’t care about any aspect of this book. I’m not a knitter and I have very little interest in the hobby but that wasn’t even the issue. The storyline, the mystery, the protagonist are all boring, I found the main character, Pamela to be stuffy and excruciatingly judgemental. The murder weapon was predictable and cliche. It’s hypocritical of me to say but I judged this book by the cover and thought the cat may bring some redeeming (and much needed) zest to this book but the cat was a total after thought which made zero sense. It’s not even Pamela’s cat and she does nothing more for it than set out food on her front porch hoping it will come by to eat. What really made me lack interest were the similar names of characters that were mentioned the most throughout this book, Pamela, Petina and Penny. There was more than one occurrence where I forgot who was who and struggled to follow the characters storyline.

You may like this book if you enjoy knitting but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have read a lot of cozy mysteries so somehow I know what to expect from this genre.
I understand that cozy mysteries are very light. But for this book, I would say that there is nothing much going on. Sad to say that I got bored until the end.

Cute read. I kept this book in my purse and read it when I had time so it took me a while to finish it. But, it was not hard to pick up with the characters after a break. I was surprised at who the murderer was and why they killed two people. I like Pamela and her new neighbor who seems to be interested in her. I know she is still mourning the death of her husband, but Penny, her daughter, thinks enough time has passed and is ready for her mom to start dating again so I hope we see something happen between them. I will read more of this series, but not in a desperate I have to have more right now kind of way.
