This book was a tragedy. It was beautiful, horrible and incredibly artistic.
LJ Shen knows what she does when she puts pen to paper and she didn’t disappoint this time. Angry God is definitely my favourite book of hers, and it will always be.
Vaughn isn’t angry, he’s not mad, he’s not happy, he’s not sad. He’s merely biding his time with the mere mortals around him until he can fulfil his prophecy.
Lenora is angry, she’s scared, she’s sad and she’s utterly mad. She’s been forgotten, left to her own devices, but just when she thought her saving grace would be back in England, she realises that there’s something scary waiting to devour her.
When she braves the God, she never expects for him to love her and Vaughn definitely doesn’t think he’ll keep her.
How deep will the mighty fall? This truly is a tale of the evil, the wicked, and the saviours.
Ars Longa, Vita Brevis.

Ok, so I had previously said that for a long time Vicious was my number one. Well guess who took his place?? Almost instantly I was drawn to Vaughn. The first mention of him and I was like, welp I can see it now he'll be my favorite. AND HE WAS IS AND WILL PROBABLY ALWAYS BE!! I LOVE Lenny too, I just can't even. This will probably be the book in the series that I re read the most. I already got half way through it the second time and realized I needed to review the series. While I hope there will be more of these books I would honestly be so so satisfied with this book as the conclusion. Shen has quickly risen to one of my favorite authors with these books. I can't wait to read more.
Rating: 3.25-3.50
Woa! I didn’t expect Vaughn’s story to be as dark, but like father like son. There were moments when the details broke my heart.
Yet, based on the length and convoluting aspects of the final few chapters... I couldn’t give this a higher rating.
Some of the moments of disclosure were too odd to make sense. Details surrounding how Harry was handled were too unbelievable to make sense.
I enjoyed the interactions between Lenny and Vaughn. Reminded me of his parent’s story which was my favorite book of the series.

Vaughn’s letter to Lenny...
This book was way to much and also not enough at the same time.
I love a Bully romance and a dysfunctional hero but I couldn't connect to anyone.
Also what is with all the fake yawning?

Full Disclosure - I only read it because it was the spawn of Emilia and Vicious!
Kudos to LJ for not blaming all of Vaughn's issues on his fucked up parents. Which, by the way, would have pissed me off because I adored both Emilia and Vicious.
I'll be honest, as soon as she drew Troy Brennan into this series, she had me right where she wanted me. (I'm a sucker for Sparrow....sue me.)
This book started off a little slow for me, and the competition between our hero and heroine was a little much at times. I felt that some of the events that happened seemed unbelievable because of their ages. Nothing too drastic, but it did feel forced in some parts.
I love the family parallels that LJ drew, but just wish that she would have explored it more, especially to help us understand the bond that the children have together.
Overall, good read, but fall flat compared to the father novel!

LJ Shen has been a favorite of mine since I first picked up Vicious. And now getting to read about his son Vaughn, who has so many similarities to him, was just as good. Vaughn is complicated and damaged and has closed himself off for very good reasons. Lenora also has a bit of damage and complications and a wall up to protect her. These two together though? They sizzle and bring life to the page as you’re reading. Shen has this world of Todos Santos, the Hotholes, and the Totholes down to a science, and it’s always fun to slip inside and read about all these complex and entitled and amazingly well-written characters. Angry God is a stand-alone, but for maximum effect and pleasure, go back to where it started with Vicious and the other Hotholes and enjoy the ride!!!
*I received an ARC for an honest review.
Now that I finished reading AG, I have such a bittersweet feeling. These characters made such a huge impact that I'll never be able to say goodbye too.
On to the review....I was expecting A LOT for Vaughn and Lenora's love story. Vaughn was such a mysterious man ever since I read about him in Pretty Reckless. He was a huge jerk in Broken Knight. Lol Lenora bantering with Vaughn was PERFECTION! and boy did they explode in Angry God. I'm someone who can't really read bullying books so it took me at least 3 days to finish it.
