I would have loved there to be more erotic scenes, but overall I did enjoy the book!
Graphic: Sexual content, Suicide, Toxic relationship, Kidnapping, Death of parent, Murder
One of my eternal dilemmas ever since I first watched Pirates of the Caribbean when I was a wee girl was whether I liked the romantic plotline. I confess, Will Turner was more of an acquired taste over time, but my love for Jack Sparrow was immediate and everlasting. Gotta love those morally gray characters from a young age, am I right?
Well, this book fed my forbidden fantasies and provided an answer to the question of what would happen if Elizabeth were to end up with Jack instead, and let me tell you, I was invested. MARRIED TO A PIRATE is a Romantasy on the high seas, where the protagonist, Georgette, is set to marry the prince and is abducted by pirates instead. She’s then forced to marry the nefarious Captain Stone, for reasons I can’t divulge because spoilers (but I will say I gasped hard when I found out.)
One of the things I enjoyed most about this book was the romance. (Pretend to be shocked, please and thank you.) The banter between Georgette and Captain Stone (who she continues to call Captain Stone throughout the book) was very fun, and Captain Stone also delivers some quotes that spoke to my heart. The couple is without a doubt the greatest strength of this book and is the main reason why I was flying through the pages. Although I also loved the scenery. I felt like I was with them on the ship. As for the spice, as of now the book was very easy on it, but it’s my understanding that it will turn hotter as the series continues.
Another element of the book that had me hooked was the mystery surrounding the missing prince, because making theories is one of the things I like best as I’m reading.
Very excited to continue the series! The second book should focus on the prince’s romance, and it’s supposed to be a spin on The Little Mermaid, except the mermaid is not in love with the prince but the two marry to unite their kingdoms.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

Picture this: Elizabeth Swan is married off to Jack Sparrow. Will Turner is going after her...but Elizabeth falls in love with the smexy, charismatic pirate captain.
Do you like the sound of that? Then you will LOVE Married to a Pirate! I know I did!
MARRIED TO A PIRATE is the perfect seafaring adventure for fans of Pirates of the Caribbean. It perfectly channels those fascinating pirate vibes mixed with the mystery, the romance and the humor that makes that series so beloved. The quick pacing and the relatively short length of the book make it the perfect quick and enjoyable read. The banter is everything!
My favorite part was definitely the characters. Captain Stone is for the Jack Sparrow girlies. He is mysterious, he does some questionable things...but his heart is always in the right place! There is a fun twist about his character that I kind of anticipated early on, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable to figure out that I was right. This man had me startstruck, and I adored his scenes with Georgette. Admittedly though, Prince Edward was the biggest surprise for me! I was not anticipating to be so smitten with him too, and good thing too bcause he will be the protagonist of the next book in the series (and for which we get the PERFECT setup in this one!) I can't fault Georgette for being pretty torn on which man to give her heart to.
My one regret--which comes down to personal tastes--is the length of the book, which forces the relationship to develop rather quickly. I would have loved to see a slower burn where Captain Stone is concerned, and perhaps some more intimate, relationship-defining moments with Georgette to really drive home the evolution of their feelings.
Overall, this is a fantastic read! Definitely recommend to the pirate-loving girlies. And if you love mermaids, make sure to dive into the sequel!

I loved this book! The spice was a little "So Lorcan did" for me, but it's perfect for people who don't like full descriptive spice. The tension between the main characters was amazing. Overall, I had a good time with this book.
As a lifelong Pirates of the Caribbean super fan, I can tell you this will give you major Jack and Lizzie vibes, but I also deeply appreciate how Captain Stone and Georgette are also extremely unique in their own characterization!!
I fell in LOVE with the audiobook narrator’s voice and absolutely adored the writing style—Athena Rose is a masterful storyteller and this book proved to be exactly what I needed to keep feeding my recent pirate romance obsession!
I cannot recommend this one enough for lovers of dark historical fantasy with a sea-faring, pirating backdrop and banter-filled romance with a bit of spice. Def gonna be a fave read of the year for me!
Romancing the Seas is a series of interconnected standalones, each focusing on a different pairing! Reading Order: Married to a Pirate, Bound to a Siren, & Sworn to a Demigod. Can’t wait to read Prince Edward’s book next!
What to Expect:
—Multi POV Chapters
—Possessive MMC
—Pirates and Sirens
—Touch Her & ☠️
—Tension and Banter
—Forced Marriage
—Slowburn to Steam
