The great tragedy of this book is that the Roran subplot is far more interesting and compelling than Eragon galavanting around with the absolutely insufferable elves mooning over the honestly incredibly uninteresting Arya.  When I have looked back on this series as an adult the scenes that stick out to me are all Roran in this book, particularly his speech for rouse the villagers - happy to say I enjoyed it was much this time around.

The Inheritance Cycle is one of my favorite book series. Its what sparked my love of high fantasy. This book I have given only 4 stars for the fact that it is the most boring out of all 4 of the books. I personally found the book interesting from a world-building perspective, you learn a lot about Alagaesia and its magic in this book, but it is far from a thrilling page turner. If you prepare for that, then I think this book can still be an enjoyable read! It definitely was for me.
