The FMC was absolutely insufferable as was the relationship and emotional awareness of both the FMC and MMC. Repetitive thoughts and conversations. Long conversational reveals starting in chapter 1.

This is the second series I’m reading from this author and my goodness… the author knows worldbuilding.. it’s so vivid and colorful and unique. I’m completely in love with this.

This story begins from Elowen being dragged back to her room by Phillen, after she discovers that Jax is the prince. Now, she knows too much, and therefore can’t be allowed to leave. This definitely put the biggest wrench in her dreams of being free as she can be with that collar still around her neck. I get why she didn’t believe someone would return for her. She trusted Jax and heard nothing for three whole days, but that in turn sealed her fate.

With their relationship still rocky, Elowen is finally told who Jax’s calling is for. His half brother Bastian, a half breed, who disappeared without word months prior. When finally completing Jax’s calling, his immense power, cripples her, breaking bones, splitting tendons, and she’s out for an entire day. As the story progresses, the Dark Raiders operation is under attack, and they get closer and closer to finding Bastian.

The part of Elowen and Jax accidentally becoming mates because, she didn’t know what “rutting” actually entails for a stag… I get that it was supposed to be angsty and add drama, but in retrospect it was kind of funny. I’m glad that there circumstances ended up the way they did because if Elowen hadn’t tried to escape at the beginning of the book, Jax would have let her go, knowing it would devastate him. Ughh he’s such a green forest!!!

The whole story is just immaculate. I can’t wait for the last book.

ugh this series is fab i didn’t love this one as much as the first because we all know once the couple gets together it looses the fun
BUT this did have my fav trope in it (no spoilers though) and i did really enjoy it and read it in like a day, its most definitely romantasy with a big romantic being the main plot but i eat it up.
who doesn’t love a ‘i’ll kill you if you touch her’ and ‘who did this to you’ MMC

This was such a good continuation of book one. I think, although a bit simplified, the character growth has been so fun to watch, and I think that I have a really good grasp on our two main characters and their motivations. the side characters are a bit underdeveloped, however I am really enjoying the plot, and how, as I mentioned in my review for book one, it doesn't feel cookie cutter.

I'm unfortunately at work, but if I could immediately jump into book 3 I would!
