So many amazing themes explored here, including some well-informed exploration of the impacts of eating disorders. I'm left wanting to know more about so many of the doors that were opened however - this could have been three books!

-loved the concept! Really enjoyed reading this, though the end lost me for a little (maybe I just need to process it more)
-i wish we got more of Beatrice towards the end, it was very focused on Reiko

This was a fascinating exploration of hunger, desire, and survival, that somehow didn’t *quite* hit the mark for me. Definitely one I’d come back to though, and an author I’ll be following with interest.

for the first two parts, i really enjoyed it and could totally see the points porter was trying to make. i thought the commentary on food and body image was so magnificent and unique. making food taboo and sex normalized was so interesting, and i think porter is so creative for giving us new perspectives on the topics. then part 3 came and almost solely focused on reiko, and it left the food commentary behind completely. i no longer knew the point porter was trying to make. i’m giving it 4 stars because the i LOVE the idea. it had a great beginning, but the execution didn’t successfully come to fruition.

Wonderfully Weird! Love the way the book uses important themes and enlarges them by creating an absurd context. It makes you think…
