“Equality is only scary if you have to give up power to attain it”
I LOVED this, despite the climate anxiety and existential crisis it gave me. The ending was a little bit lackluster, but this was compelling and I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the commentary on gender, equity vs equality, feminism, and power. The writing and pacing was excellent. Queer dystopian fiction at its best 👏

I have to agree with the other reviewers that noted that they felt nothing for any of the characters. They just existed, but I never really cared about their lives. The premise of this book seemed so interesting, but the execution completely fell flat for me. So much of the romance felt so rushed and…random. The “resolution” was equally rushed. And the ending…again I just didn’t care. This book also did so much telling and very little showing — the points made were consistently spelled out. An easy quick read, though.
