I found this story beautiful and satisfying. I appreciated the writing being beautiful but not too full of imagery. Some of the story managed to surprise me without feeling like it came out of nowhere.
I disagree with some of the negative reviewers who say Julia was painted as the “evil eldest”. I thought every character was multi faceted and fully developed - no one was wholly likeable or wholly unlikeable and that felt refreshing.
I liked the idea of a modern retelling of Little Women, but I did feel as though there were one too many references to the actual book. We didn’t need it - those of us who know the book caught it early on and those who don’t didn’t need it for the book to still be compelling.

4.5 stars. A story about familial love and familial strife, over a generation.
This seems like such a marmite book when reading other reviews... But I loved it! I can't even describe why I loved it so much. The characters are unlikeable at times, sure, but I think this book showed how people put up barriers to protect themselves. It's a part of the human psyche that is frustrating but also so fascinating.

It’s a book of really messed up people. It was nice. But just ok
I didn’t like the characters and was not able to feel with them that’s why the plot felt way too slow for me.

I read the Italian translation of this novel. It Is quite poorly translated, and ends up not being very fluent and Easy to read. It Is also quite a simple read, although It gets more engaging as you keep reading.
Loved this book about 4 sisters and a kind, gentle man.
