I enjoyed this book and learned some history about the treatment of Poland in WW2 that I did not know. Despite the relentless grimness, there was enough love and happiness to make reading it bearable.

A near perfect 10/10 on my rating scale! This story drips with emotion from page 1 all the way to the very end. My heart broke from each of the characters as they dealt with live in Warsaw during the German occupation in WW2. As we get to meet the characters we get a little look into how the different groups were posed against each other by the German Regime.

The Aryan side of the walls created in Warsaw truly believed the lies there were told about the conditions in the Jewish ghettos. They believed the lies and propaganda they were told that the Jewish families were filled with disease and the only way to keep everyone safe was to segregate them.

The way Kelly writes this story, the reader is dropped into the middle of the conflict right alongside the characters. You will grieve, you will celebrate, you will feel the rage and the pain and sadness and yet she does a way so you can still feel the hope.

Kelly Rimmer is my favorite historical fiction author. She encompasses everything I want in a book- Compelling story, developed complex characters, hope in humanity. All the Things We Cannot Say is one of my top favorite books and I'm so glad The Warsaw Orphan delivered as well!

When I picked this book up, I didn't realize that it tied in so closely to The Things We Cannot Say - it's the story of Emilia, Tomasz's younger sister. It was a pleasure to be back in that storyline, although it was just as emotionally gut-wrenching as last time.

Powerful and gripping historical fiction. Characters based on real life heroes give us an inside look at the atrocities committed by the Nazis inside and outside the walls of the Warsaw Ghetto. Rimmer also gives us a glance at the resilience of the Polish people under both the Nazis and the Soviets.

Liked it well enough. Sad but beautiful story of WW2 from the polish perspective.

I've read previous books about the Warsaw Ghetto, but I've never read one that was set there as well as in Warsaw on the other side of the wall. Interesting, heartbreaking, well researched.
