Wow! Rimmer strikes again with a historical fiction novel like none other. The story of Emilia and Roman is incredible. She sums it up beautifully in her afterward when she writes “great historical fiction should pique our curiosity and inspire us to educate ourselves”.

So good. Kelly Rimmer never disappoints. This is the sequel to 'Things We Can NOT Say'. Emilia is 14 in Poland during WWII. It is inspired by the true person, a nurse, who helped hundreds of children escape Warsaw. It goes back and forth between Emilia's point of view and Roman's - a teen on the Warsaw side of the wall experiencing horrible hardships.
Their paths cross.

Rounding up from 3.5. The dialogue didn’t always seem very realistic to me, but the story kept me interested.
