I just can't. Generally I enjoyed the series, especially the first book. The problem is in this book the author has too much of the stuff I don't like and little of the stuff I do. The wordiness is out of control. Every sentence is some thing like"He started to speak, turned his head, and changed his mind." Just say he didn't say anything. Also all the technical descriptions of things really lost me. I can't mentally picture things, if you say a 90 degree angle I'll just keep reading & hope it's not important because my mind is blank. In the beginning of the series the descriptions felt necessary because you're world building. At this point we get it, we know it. The books should be getting shorter not longer! 500 pages?! No thank you! Loved this author, glad people opposite of me enjoy her books. It's time for me to say goodbye to this series.

There is mystery and dragons, Kaylin coming more into her powers, and growing up - even dealing with some underlying romance options. I like how we're slowly getting to know her as she grows. This is definitely not a fast paced series, but one that builds our understanding of world, people and enemies slowly, both for characters and audience.

Absolutely LOVED it! I can hardly wait until the next one comes out (which is sad, because I'm sure the release date is nowhere as soon as I want it to be!) I highly recommend this series to anybody with a strong love of fantasy, words of power, magic, and magical politics and ethics.

The same complaints I have about previous books still holds true here. I didn't even really get much Nightshade this time. Somehow I still like this series a lot, but I'm not sure how many more books like this I'll still enjoy before I get tired of the series going nowhere.

Well Kaylin finds herself investigating the deaths of identical strangers in Tiamaris. While regularly checking in on her egg, she continues her etiquette lessons with Lord Dairmont. While she is at it, a warrior from another world and his magic sword attacks the border under the command of Shadow. Kaylin wrestles Meggaron's (warrior from another world) name from him and takes possession of his magical sword. She and Severn along with one of the Arkon's image projecting crystals continue their investigation only to find another identical stranger alive! Her strange request and her potential identity brings the Arkon stomping into their investigation as Kaylin realizes she only has one more chance to save the identical stranger. This one is full of really cool backstory on the dragons, the dragon wars, and Tiamaris's new residents! Best part is that we are getting ready to meet a friend who can argue with dragons!! Happy Reading!

Such a great book, dealing with some aftermath of Chaos, and some new problems, and yeah, the offer of information for Kaylin to go to the West March happened, and yeah, such a great book!

Oh, man, so good, so amazing, I want to read more, but I need to pace it, enjoy it! And her etiquette lessons, and the last female dragon, want more!

I pretty much co-sign with Felicia Day. I liked the book, but I'm not sure how much it adds to the main character's story. You get tiny tidbits about why the heroine holds herself apart from her two main romantic interests, but that's all. I'm tired of it, and I am also totally on Team-Nightshade #justsaying. I like Severn as a lawful-neutral foil for Kaylin's chaotic-good alignment, but there is something about his ethically blind devotion to Kaylin that reminds me of the creepy incestuous devotion of the older brother from Flowers in the Attic. It would be good for both of them to move on romantically.
