Historical fiction is not for me. I often found myself frustrated by Annabelle while reading this book.
fast-paced

De lo mejor que he leído de romántica histórica en mucho tiempo.

Quite enjoyable but very cringy at times. There is almost no plot but would still recommend.

Light on plot, heavy on, ahem, corset ripping.

I wanted very much to like this book (and its sequels), as I love a good Georgette Heyer-esque romance for a weekend read. But as enjoyable as they were to read in the moment, as soon as the book ended I was left feeling hollow. The heroine was nothing out of the ordinary - she doesn't realize how gorgeous she is (even though everyone else is always making comments about her beauty), she is said to be extremely smart (although apart from one witty comeback, her "brilliance" is demonstrated solely by being rude or provocative), she is naive and innocent (but also sexually experienced and worldly). We've seen this character a thousand times before and told she's a "brave, feminist icon" when she's no more than a self-insert fantasy. The hero spends most of the book trying to convince himself that lust is really love this time, and the Cinderella ending rings false as a result.
