This book is listed as a memoir, but it doesn’t feel right to call it that. The author tends to tell a story, then analyze the experience with feminist theory. The placement of quotes is jarring.
Although I was /am resistant to the addition of academic content dropped into a memoir, the quotes are so good. I found myself highlighting and sharing the best ones for friends.
The irony is that my favorite part of the book was the last 100 pages—when she had married a man and lived a much less adventurous sexual lifestyle! Her love for her husband oozes off the page.
I guess what I’m saying here is the editor did a poor job…

Tracey was new to me, but oh the shared-teen-vibes we shared. This is the kind of sex writing this country needs: direct, empathic, and levity-laced.

really good, loved the writing. i did listen in audiobook format which i have never done before so i think the reading style was a bit different. I really enjoyed it. however, the discussion of pregnancy seemed very privileged without acknowledging that. but it is also a memoir, so that all in all did not turn me off the book. but yeah i think this is a must read especially for women who are involved in our current culture of sexuality.

Definitely recommend the audio for this one. This is a super unique book and I really enjoyed it, so much that I didn't want it to end.
