This was a solid graphic novel. Some neat concepts, though it wasn't the best I've read. If you like the old west and some fantastic elements, this is a good read.
Wow. This book is just plain fun. It has all the right good stuff: great pace, interesting story, well narrated, interesting characters, art that matches the tone and pace exactly. There is nothing bad about this book at all; it is a joy to read.
A re-imagining of the old west with a bit of a hell boy feel to it (perhaps Firefly as well?) with plenty of adventure/action to go along with it. This would make a great television series IMHO.
The best part of the story is the unfolding of the mystery, the scale of the implications that gets revealed over the course of the first four books, and how each character fits in to the tale.
It's a rich and deep, yet a fun story, that by all means, I reckon you should jump into.

Excellent - I would worry whether this could be sustained after such a complete story in the first volume but the art and pacing make this an enjoyable fantasy western.

I really liked the first story arc in this book the introduction to the six guns. I thought the first arc would make a good movie it was a nice complete story. There is a Lord of the Rings vibe going on with the story and the concept of the six guns. I am intrigued as to where it is going to go but it doesn't feel like an epic yet. The second arc and the epilogue of this volume open up the world with voodoo magic mythical creatures and secret societies. While I wasn't invested in the second arc it was okay but it brought down the volume for me as a whole.

This is okay as far as it goes, but I’m not going to seek out the next volume. The art is fine, but the story is fairly predictable and repetitive.
It took me a while to get into the story mainly because it was a bit difficult to follow the story at first. But by the end, I was hooked. I want to know more. There kind of a self-contained story in this volume that also leaves a few things open for future developments. I was afraid the volume was going to end with a huge cliffhanger.
But I think this volume works well as a standalone.
The art was amazing and I loved the main characters: Becky is not a damsel in distress but the opposite (hallelujah), Drake is difficult to read which makes a real interesting character and I really liked how he comes out at the end. The sicko in need of grooming was ok as a villain but his wife is the real deal here. She is not going again easily.

This is the creepy Western horror Gunslinger comic I didn't know I needed. Now to find the second volume...
Elements of American Vampire mixed with Locke and Key, but written with more cliche pulp prose. Pretty good, but the main villain talks like he's on Scooby Doo trying to outsmart that obnoxious gang of whippersnappers.
