This book just wasn't it for me.
I didn't felt it while reading this. I also didn't like the character, like I didn't like the way she was. There is this scene where she and another character are in a car and she does something that you just can't do and it made me dislike her so much. I couldn't connect with the story in anyway and it took me so long to read.
Only the last 100 pages where intriguing towards me. No, this books just wasn't it for me.
The only thing that I enjoyed was the reference towards some Harry Potter stuff but that only happend twice.

What like about our hero, the boy that suddenly drops his life to go along with our main character is that he is not a hero. Is that time and time again we’re reminded that he is using her for his own curiosity. He is not doing that out of the goodness of his heart, which would be very unrealistic and annoying.
I will not be continuing with the series.

mixed feelings - really enjoyed the beginning, the writing was easy and was having a good time with the mystery of what was the hazel wood. However once we got to the hazel wood and the plot started to unravel but not in a good way. It felt very confusing at times and explanation and world building was lacking. It also wrapped up so abruptly, it felt odd.
I also didn't really love the main character - was at times quite mean and unlikable. Which when you get the ending I suppose you understand why but still it was rough being in her head at times.

I did love this book. The only problem I had was that some passages were hard for me to grasp.
It kept me wanting more and was just creepy enough to draw me in!

I read this one again because I was interested in the sequel. I definitely liked it more the second time around. I think the first time I couldn’t concentrate on all that was going on in the book. A 3.5 stars! It’s not the best but I enjoyed wading it again!

Haunting, suspenseful, and eerie! What would you do if dark fairy tales came off the page to hunt you? Hazel Wood is darkly gripping and magical. Huge fan!
3.75. There were parts that were 4 star and others that were three. I liked the dark aspect but wasn't a fan of the protagonist's obsession with her mother. I figured out the twist and the ending early in the book which mad it seem a bit cheap
I loved the concept of this book and where it went. I’m not sure I feel satisfied with the ending, but thats what a sequel is for.

This is a dark unique take on fairytale esque fantasy novels. Such a creative and unique idea.
It's not quite 5 stars for me because there were unnecessary references to the internet and brands that took me out of the story. I do prefer it when the exact time period isn't so obvious. There was no reason to reference DeviantArt or Target. Just say website or supermarket.
