I had a goal of reading another Shakespeare play this year since I've always enjoyed his plays much more than I'd imagined I would have. This one was such a quick read, I did it essentially in one sitting with a short break for lunch. I'd heard so much about Macbeth and honestly was not disappointed. It had the good parts of a play with witches and prophecies...and the characters inevitably fulfilling them despite their efforts to thwart them. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth's downfall seemed serious and clearly felt like a warner for those who seek too much power like these. It's a short yet clever tragedy by Shakespeare and leaves you feeling like you've just read an epic story. Everyone is always in danger of dying, so no one is safe. A solid 4 stars from me.

3 // I started this last summer and re read it over these past few weeks for school. Honestly, this would have been better if A. Lady Macbeth killed Macbeth and took his power or B. Macduff lied to Malcolm and took the crown for himself proving that the prospect of power brings about an endless cycle of corruption.
