Sara Shepard really knows how to do plot twists and this book is no exception. I went into this knowing who the killer was before-hand and yet the book had me hooked. It really was a great reading experience knowing who it was and following this person through the book and noticing all the tiny hints that were there all along. Shepard made these hints so small that they were easy to overlook, but once you know who it is, it dawns on you how obvious some of them were - and that is really good writing IMO. Shepard really impressed me with this one and knowing who the killer was before-hand didn't ruin the experience at all. I'd even go so far as to say it really added to the reading experience.
One thing I would like was for there to be a bigger climax in shape of a final confrontation of a bigger magnitude than the book presented to us, but all-in-all a very good read.

No lo vi venir. En el primer libro pensé que sería lo mismo que PLL, pero logró sorprenderme. Sólo sentí el final un poco apresurado.

I really liked this conclusion to the story! I thought it was better than the first book, and I'm glad.
The way we got some sort of reveal a bit "too early" on in the story was brilliant because it left enough room for that plot twist to happen.
I loved the somewhat open ending. I really recommend this duology if you're looking for some mystery.

Boek 1 bleek een gigantische buildup te zijn naar het plot van dit boek…
Alsnog verander ik mijn mening niet over het eerste boek in de reeks, omdat het gewoon wat gek is voor mij om de reeks als 1 te beoordelen als het 2 afzonderlijke boeken waren?
Moest het 1 dik boek geweest zijn van beide samen, dan zou ik misschien een rating van 4 sterren overwegen... Zelf had ik dit veel liever gehad (500 pagina's in 1 boek zijn voor mij niet zo gek), ik snap wel dat dit niet iedereen hun voorkeur zou zijn, maar ik vind het zelf niet zo leuk als een volledig boek over niks gaat in een reeks?
Moest ik niet het 2de boek al gekocht hebben gehad zou ik 100% zeker deze niet meer gekocht/gelezen hebben na het lezen van deel 1. Het zag er totaal niet naar uit dat het nog beter zou worden, wat wel zorgde voor een aangename verassing…
Ik ben wel blij achteraf dat ik doorgezet heb om deel 2 te lezen nadat ik niet zo enthusiast was over deel 1.
Ik merk ook nu ik er over nadenk (en mijn statusupdates van tijdens het lezen teruglees) dat ik verdacht weinig negatieve kantjes van dit boek vind, dus dat is top!
LONG STORY SHORT:
+ HET PLOT (+ Shock level ;) )
+ Sterke afsluiter van een reeks
+ Goed tempo
- De rare therapiescenes kwamen terug in dit boek, en sloegen helemaal nergens op.
- Dit boek geeft een niet correcte weergave van bepaalde psychische aandoeningen
Nu de serie kijken dat bij deze boeken hoort ;)
