Finished in less than 24 hours.
There was a lot of great tension.
Overall a fun read

This was my first witchy read… I’d been looking forward to reading it for months (initially held off due to only being available in hardback but then my friend very kindly bought me the kindle edition), I hate to say it but I was the tiniest bit disappointed. I think I got swept up into the hype and went into it expecting a 5⭐️ read. Note to self: stop setting impossibly high expectations based on booktok hype

Debated between 4 and 4.25. I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would! I don’t typically enjoy YA but this felt very upper YA/borderline NA. I will say one of my least favorite tropes is a love triangle and this book has one. I enjoyed the tension between Gideon and Rune. I was rooting for them but at the same time how was that ever going to work out for either of them! Poor Gideon and his backstory (SA 😢), totally get why he would be a witch hunter. Rune is definitely a naive rookie witch in the grand scheme of witches. Predicted the twist with Verity. Overall, a fun ride!
