Brilliant!

When I read the first book in the DI Stone series, I wasn't really impressed, but decided to try the next one, as authors often evolve from their first book. And Angela Marsons certainly has evolved, and the books gets better and better. I love the dynamic in DI Stones team, and this book really put the team under pressure. The storyline sometimes made me really uncomfortable, with blatant racism and hate against minorities. But that's what books should do, make you think and question the world around us. And Marsons writing and ability to make her characters believeable, makes this a really good read.

I'm a quite critical reader, and language, structure, and form are important to me, regardless of genre. There are many mediocre crime writers out there, who think storylines are more important than the literary experience. Marsons certainly isn't one of them, and I'm already looking forward to the next Kim Stone book!

Human bones are discovered in a field and DI Kim STone is called to the scene. Shortly after her ex-colleague DI Travis from the neighboring force arrives - the discovery is on the border between both forces and now her boss says its's a joint investigation much to Kim's displeasure. At the end of the dig three bodies have been unearthed. The rest of Kim's team are investigating a spate of hate crimes in their area. At the climax of the book both teams come together when a colleague is in danger and a link between the cases is discovered. The book is about a dark and disturbing subject but keeps the reader engaged from the beginning. I haven't read any of the previous books in the series but look forward to doing so now.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Once again an excellent read by the talented Angela really wished Angela could keep books coming every month as the only downside to finishing her latest read is you have to wait until the next read which I know will be as brilliant if not more perfect than the others in the series

Angela Marsons does it againa!

This was by far another great spellbounding psychological thriller that will keep you on your toes and the edge of your seat to the very end!

Great book from a great series. A lot is happening from both the past and the present, with lots of different strands to one big mystery. I got to know more about the main characters in this book, and feel I like them all more now The characters are a huge asset to the mysteries. I won't go into the storyline, as it's way too complicated for me to even start on.

Dead Souls Kim and her team are forced to work alongside another team, including her nemesis. They are working on trying to identify bones that have been uncovered, especially when it appears that there is more than one victim. While this case is as intriguing as each and every case Kim is faced with, the team faces some serious issues, including prejudice, racism and sexism.

The sixth outing for DI Kim Stone and her team and a real departure as Stone is forced to work with an old adversary to solve the case of three bodies uncovered at an archeological dig. Her team, Dawson, Bryant and Stacey are left to look into various other cases only for everything to collide spectacularly as the story progresses.
The subject matter - hate crime - is brutal and some descriptions are particularly graphic and it's worth reading the authors notes at the end. Stone's partnership with DI Travis is fraught with tension dating back five years and is a welcome change, as it is for the other three with Stacey in particular really coming into her own as a human rather than a tech genius.
I enjoyed this hugely as past and present clash in more ways than one and good to see a different side of all the main characters we've come to know and love.
