2.5 stars. I didn’t like how it ended, and wanted some character arcs more wrapped up. I could’ve just followed Francis around for the entire book and been quite happy with it
3.5 stars. Some great lines but it all felt like a bit of a muddle with a very abrupt end.
I liked this book very much. I am, however, tired of novels with IT billionaires in them.
Somewhat uneven book. 3.5 rounded to 4 with the excellent narration of Benedict Cumberbatch, who can make ramblings sound poetic.
I suppose this book was meant to pass some big issues messages but all I could come up with, is that men as a species can’t be trusted.

A strange book, in which the first part seems 'normal', the second takes a peculiar turn, bordering on the ridiculous, and the third returns to being a mix between normal and excessive. Not that the book is not a pleasant read, but the author's purpose is not clear to me, so much so that it is one of those books that I catalogue among those that do not begin and do not end.

This book follows the lives of three protagonists and their families, starting from when all three are facing a moment of change, and ending some time in the future.
I was definitely entranced by the characters, their life stories, their personalities, but I'm not really sure what happened in this book. What was the plot? Where was the conflict? I guess I lost the thread at some point. Maybe that was the point: not everything can get resolved in a convenient climax or tied up in a bow; life goes on.
I liked the writing style and I feel like it's been a long time since I read a book that challenged my vocab like this. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

St.Aubyn writes beautifully, and I fell in love with a few of the characters. However, I almost stopped reading several times because I did not care to read the ruminations about ecology and neurology. Stick with the Patrick Melrose novels.
DNF. Felt pretentious and I knew the end would not be satisfying enough to slog through the overwrought prose.
i really enjoyed this; it was challenging though. there's lots of physics, philosophy, and psychology. the writing is beautiful.
