First thing’s first: I love Kit and Percy with my whole heart. Sebastian is really good at developing the two mains and making you root for them and their love. Their relationship grows organically, and isn’t rushed. The payoff is satisfying.
The problem with this book is that it sometimes feels like it’s not their story. Marian and Rob’s story often overshadows what’s going on in this book, probably even more so because we see so little of it. The plot of this book reads like it was designed to set up another book, not for itself. Also the ‘reveal’ was kind of painfully obvious. I don’t really enjoy it when I figure out all of the mystery immediately. Also I ended up disliking Marian so much that I doubt I’ll read the sequel.
I struggled with what to rate this one but every one of those stars is on the backs of the two main characters.

This book is so sweet and fun with a surprisingly super anti-aristocracy bent. I listened to the audiobook while sick and it helped the healing process along. Looking forward to the sequel.

okay!!!! okay !!!!!!!!! was NOT expecting to see my communist ideals reflected back to me in this historical lgbt romance novel but it was by far one of my favorite parts of the book. capitalists do not interact
A charming and engaging period romance romp, even if the story was secondary to the characters and the silly bickering. If you like complex political plots, you might be disappointed; if you like witty and smartly written adventures, I’d give it a try.
