This actually seems like it could be entertaining but I’m not in the mood for what it’s delivered so far and it just doesn’t feel like my jam.
Thankfully I borrowed this one from the library so nothing to lose for having tried it.

This was the first gay historical I’ve read. For some reason, it never occurred to me that wearing wigs and beauty marks wouldn’t be 100% heterosexual.
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb was a slow burn. Percy is looking to hire Kit, a retired highwayman, to rob his father, the Duke. Their relationship progresses from strangers to slightly annoyed acquaintances to friends. I loved the discussion of class and socioeconomic status and how it affected both Percy and Kit. It seemed very apropos and relevant to the story progression.
I loved Kit and Percy together. Their connection was hot and sweet, and I loved seeing them care so much for the other.
The pacing seemed a bit off, and I had a hard time getting into the story initially. I grew to love the characters and got invested in the story and I’m glad I picked up this sweet story.

I'm not big into political plots, but there's definitely a lot of… maybe intersectionality with queerness and politics, so that only makes up .25 of the docked points; the other .50 are the, as other readers noted, long winded nature of the story and also the pacing being quiiite slow and then very fast.

This is my first Cat Sebastian book but I think it's safe to say she's one of my new favorite authors. Percy was so funny and charming and watching him grow into himself was beautiful. He and Kit are absolutely perfect. The story was so well crafted and made me giddy and emotional. The yearning in this book was top tier. Immaculate.
A very solid romance. I really appreciated that the sources of conflict throughout the story did not stem from the main couple doubting each other’s affection and attraction. I also liked the underlying theme that relinquishing wealth is more ethical than trying to use it for good. Ultimately I think I prefer romance stories in a modern setting but this was still enjoyable and I look forward to reading more Cat Sebastian.
