The audiobook narration for this by Joel Leslie was excellent. Really sucked me right into the story such as the witty moments, Percy’s entire personality, the softer moments, the hotter moments! The voice changes were seamless. He could do the female voices so well without being obvious a male is trying to sound high pitched.
I see some are lukewarm on the mystery/heist and honestly for me that was just a minimal side story anyway meant to drive the main plot of the romance. For me, it was also a tool to make Percy a very sympathetic character. I adore him. Oh, how I felt for him in the carriage!
This felt very RomCom to me in the best way. I fell for Percy and Kit. I’m learning I greatly enjoy historical M/M romance with rich vs poor finding their way to each other, learning from each other and setting prejudgments aside for love.

It felt unsatisfying and unfinished at the end. There's another book after it, but I wish this plot at least was wrapped up enough for now.

Enjoyed this book a lot! It took a while for me to get into it— normally I love a good pining/will-they-won’t-they romance, but the first half of the book seemed like it dragged a little. Once Kit and Percy got together though, the story started clicking for me! It was kind of soap opera-ish at times, which I tend to find funny and I think should be expected in a genre like historical romance. I loved Kit and Percy’s relationship! Also, as a trans guy, I can confidently say that Kit is ✨gender✨ and will be one of my comfort characters for the next few weeks. If you’re looking for a fun little read and to squee over a cute, saccharine romance, this is the book for you!
