I loved The Queer Principles of Kit Webb. It was everything I expect from Cat Sebastian. The characters were intriguing and well-formed. The plot put them in impossibly difficult situations and yet resolved in a heart-warming way.

Kit is a rogue with a heart of gold, and it's lovely the way he has a cast of characters around him who care about him and protect him (or try to protect him from his impulses toward Percy.)

Percy is wonderful because he discovers so much hidden depth in himself, and because circumstances cause him to reconsider everything he's ever thought about who he is.

I loved this book! However, I fear for it because it is so much more expensive than comparable books. Despite my love for Sebastian's book I doubt I would have spent $11.99 for it.

Slow to start, but very cute and fluffy. Percy is hilarious.

Very slow start. I didn't start enjoying this until about 60% in, but then it got fun, intriguing, and mysterious.
I love that so many of the gay historical romances that I read have leftist tendencies. "No such thing as a good landlord.""...There are horrible ones, like your father. And there are ones who manage to refrain from doing actual evil. But I've never heard of a good one." YES AAAH I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOREVER!!! I gave it an extra star for that line.

Percy has a problem, his father's behavior may be about to remove him and his good friend/father's new wife, Marian, from their position in society. Not only would Percy lose everything he's known but his infant half-sister would have nothing. Marian suggests they hire a highwayman to steal something from Percy's father to use as leverage. Only problem is the highway man, Kit, refuses to re-enter that life and is content with his coffee shop, until he learns who the mark is.

I enjoyed this a little more than I thought I would. There isn't usually a lot to say about books that are a 3ish though, because they weren't bad but nothing really stood out. I enjoyed the characters, I thought both Kit and Percy had depth and were different enough from each other that you could tell their voices apart in their POV chapters.

There was a discussion about wealth and power and what it means to be a good person in here that I didn't expect. I really enjoyed the anti-capitalist perspectives and the writing style was easy to read without feeling shallow. I think, personally, I just wanted more from the plot. I'm trying to put myself in the mindset that the plot is the vehicle for the romance but I still think it was lacking something. I did like the representation in here and liked that it wasn't insta-love and the men really got to know each and accept the other for their differences and faults as well as the positive sides of their personalities. It made it feel a little more like a real representation of a relationship.

I would probably read more by this author.
