This was cute! I'd been kind of struggling to get through audiobooks lately but this story was so engaging that I blew through it much faster than I usually do. I think that because I read through this so quickly, however, I was less invested in the story overall, and this also may have affected my experience of pacing and things like that.
I liked both Kit and Percy, though I wasn't super emotionally invested in their story. I didn't really feel like there were any obstacles to their getting together, considering how quickly Kit seemed to get over the fact that Percy was the son of his enemy. There were a couple of points that felt like they were supposed to be conflicts, but they were resolved quickly enough that i didn't feel any real tension. And I liked most of the side characters, although I definitely liked some more than others. In the case of Marian, I liked her a lot in the beginning, but by the end I was mostly confused by her character. And I never really understood Rob either. I think for me Rob and Marian's roles largely had to do with providing buildup for the sequel, where they are the main characters, but because of this, their role in this story felt incomplete in a way that was not very satisfying.
The plot was alright; the whole Kit helping Percy rob his father the Duke plot line definitely felt sidelined to me in favor of the romance, and the actual robbery took a long time to be setup because it was being sidelined for other things. That being said, this is primarily a romance, and i enjoyed that aspect enough that I didn't really care if the rest of thr plot meandered along.
Overall, this was a solid book! If I was to read this again, I would definitely pick ebook or print format; I wasn't actually a big fan of the audiobook narration. I haven't decided if I'll read the next book about Marian and Rob yet, but it won't be right away if so. I definitely flew through it because it was fun and engaging and not because it rewired my brain chemistry, but if that's what you're looking for than give it a go!

Overall a very charming book, but the author was clearly holding back on certain details in order to have content the sequel - to me, it felt unfinished/ like pieces were missing. Some significant secondary characters were underdeveloped in order to maintain suspense, even though they were a huge part of the main characters' lives. I loved Kit and Percy, though.

Such a cute romance with a fantastic plot to set it all in! There were a few moments I audibly gasped because I was so invested in the blackmailing. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

I don't like the audiobook narrator, I also don't love the characters. They're fine, I'm just not excited to read it anymore. Going to return it to the library.
