I don't like the audiobook narrator, I also don't love the characters. They're fine, I'm just not excited to read it anymore. Going to return it to the library.
Based on the synopsis, you would think this book has an adventurous plot. It doesn't. Nothing happens ever. The love story isn't entertaining enough to make up for the lack of plot. I usually enjoy Cat Sebastian's books a lot but this one bored me immensely.
This story was super cute, fluffy and funny. Really had a great time with this.

I always love a good queer histrom and this one was no exception. I especially enjoyed how much the leads believed in one another and didn't let other people's doubts affect their relationship. Like usually when someone tells one of the MC "oh I saw him with his EX" or "but WHAT IF he manipulated you into liking him" the MC goes "oh no what if" but here they just went "nah don't think so, I trust him" and I loved that!! Also immediately seeking the other out after saying something hurtful, or still believing they get to see and talk to one another even if they're mad at each other. I don't know, the communication and faith in one another was refreshing.
I was a little bit annoyed thag we didn't get any news of Rob and Marian at the end but turns out they'll have their own book so!!! I'm excited about it!

this was fine! the romance was sweet but i just couldn’t get into the blackmail plot which was like. the whole book so. also i know that one of the issues i had was just a function of setting up for a follow up book but it still irritated me.
Overall not bad for a gay period romance, but the interactions felt a little formulaic at times, like the author had a lot of scenes of almost coming together planned that they wanted to include. The ending felt rushed in terms of discovering mysteries established in the very beginning. This book was an interesting read and I enjoyed the representation, but it felt like a debut novel that was meant to be a romance, but played a little more like a long smutty novel trying to push a complex plot. The characters were well-written and enjoyable - my only complaint is the rushed resolutions and distractions from the primary plot.
