4.5 good lord i LOVED the banter between these two

This book is a romp. I love Percy's pompousness, the banter, how the story balances right on the edge of ridiculousness to feel fun but not too over the top. Cat Stephens manages to make the progression of relationships feel so natural and earned.

The heist part is actually the bit I enjoyed least. The part I liked (and that honestly took up most of the book), was Percy sitting in Kit’s coffee shop and annoying the hell out of him, and Kit trying (and failing) not to stare longingly and broodily at Percy. The pairing was very spoiled aristocrat/salt of the earth highwayman, and it worked very well. Gave me Fitz and the Fool vibes for sure, but in another reality where they are happy. Some things weren’t explained well, eg we never SAW Percy’s father being horrible, just heard about it. But overall, a bit of fun! It’s more of a 3.5 rounded up!
