this was a bit of an odd one. the first 75%-ish of the book, I was deeply underwhelmed. it felt as though there was so little driving the story. I was in the heads of both of the characters so there wasn’t any true drama about the relationship, and it felt exceedingly… hollow. the plot also was virtually nothing-

until the last 25%. the plot went in an unexpected direction, characters got some lovely development, and I actually got invested in the relationship. if it had been like that concretely throughout, I would’ve adored the book.

as it was, it was… fine? I guess? other people might find it more compelling - I did get it recommended to me by a friend who quite enjoyed it - but I thought it was overall just… a book. I wouldn’t rec it personally but I wouldn’t tell someone not to read it if it interested them.

however, I’m interested enough in the MCs of the sequel that I’m going to give it a shot. we’ll see how that one pans out.

It was an ok book, with a lot more potential. For some reason, the first half of it seemed to go really slow (at least for me) and the second half was a bit underwhelming. The ending wasn't really all that amazing either. I get that it was left like this to probably set the stage for the second book, where perhaps more will be explained, but I just don't care. I am disappointed enough to not want to read more.
It was still a good enough book. I am definitely happy I stuck to reading it to the end.

This was a fantastic story. I didn’t know I needed a romance set in 1750s London, but I did.

Idk, I mean, I enjoyed it but the ending was kind of weird. The part when they realize that Rob was the blackmailer??? I suspectedthat too but they arrive to the conclusion without actual proofs and just like that. But for the rest, i enjoyed it

3.5. This book felt like it took forever to get going, but after the halfway point is picked right up ans became the adventurous romance it proported itself to be.
