Honestly one of my favorites from this series. I laughed a lot! I liked how the tables were turned in the beginning. Evina was a wonderful heroine, she might be my favorite so far.
Even though this books keep having the same basic storyline, I feel like Sands does a good job of making each one unique enough to still entertain.

I enjoyed the book, it’s an easy read I just don’t care for the same repetitive story lines

Very fluffy read. I felt all it really boiled down to was two people forced to marry, decided they actually did love each other and their attempts at a quick marriage while simultaneously searching for the man who kept trying to kill the bride. Everything moved very fast, and was a bit unrealistic, but still kind of a fun fast read. Probably just because it's Scottish, but I did pick up a little Outlander vibes from this.

Accurate rating: 3.5/5 stars

I mean for an adult romance, there was less sex than I expected. And more plot than I anticipated. And 1493292932 characters for me to try and keep straight when they all have similar-sounding names. But overall, I actually liked it!

Pros:
- Evina is a badass and I love her even tho she's low key a dumb bitch. I liked her and her spunk!
- Plot was fairly solid. I wasn't expecting the exact twist at the end (spoiler for who I thought it was:
SpoilerI thought it was the father of her previous husband (or one of his relatives), mad that she was remarrying... But I did like that it was Gavin's father even tho I had no fucking clue who he was when they introduced him by name. There are waaaay too many characters.
)
- Conran was a sweetie. I liked him a lot too.

Cons:
- The 45 million characters in this damn book. Not only are there like 8 Buchanan siblings, but there's also a million people at Evi's castle that you need to know the name of as well. And if they mention a name, you damn well better remember it and it's exact relation to the other characters cuz they aren't explaining it again (or not again in a way that makes sense)
- The accent is SO HARD TO READ SOMETIMES. God, it was TIRING to read sometimes! Yes, I liked being able to "hear" the accent while I read, but it was just too much.
- For an adult book, there's not nearly enough sex for me. I wanted, nay, expected more.
- Yes, you can read any of these books in any order, but there are events of previous books that they sorta expect you to know in this one and I was confused and intrigued. Almost enough to go back and start from the beginning of the series.

Overall, I'm glad I started with this book in the whole series because I'm actually considering reading the previous books. Not sure if I will, but I'll be thinking about it for a while. A quick, fun read!
