Very fluffy read. I felt all it really boiled down to was two people forced to marry, decided they actually did love each other and their attempts at a quick marriage while simultaneously searching for the man who kept trying to kill the bride. Everything moved very fast, and was a bit unrealistic, but still kind of a fun fast read. Probably just because it's Scottish, but I did pick up a little Outlander vibes from this.

Accurate rating: 3.5/5 stars

I mean for an adult romance, there was less sex than I expected. And more plot than I anticipated. And 1493292932 characters for me to try and keep straight when they all have similar-sounding names. But overall, I actually liked it!

Pros:
- Evina is a badass and I love her even tho she's low key a dumb bitch. I liked her and her spunk!
- Plot was fairly solid. I wasn't expecting the exact twist at the end (spoiler for who I thought it was:
SpoilerI thought it was the father of her previous husband (or one of his relatives), mad that she was remarrying... But I did like that it was Gavin's father even tho I had no fucking clue who he was when they introduced him by name. There are waaaay too many characters.
)
- Conran was a sweetie. I liked him a lot too.

Cons:
- The 45 million characters in this damn book. Not only are there like 8 Buchanan siblings, but there's also a million people at Evi's castle that you need to know the name of as well. And if they mention a name, you damn well better remember it and it's exact relation to the other characters cuz they aren't explaining it again (or not again in a way that makes sense)
- The accent is SO HARD TO READ SOMETIMES. God, it was TIRING to read sometimes! Yes, I liked being able to "hear" the accent while I read, but it was just too much.
- For an adult book, there's not nearly enough sex for me. I wanted, nay, expected more.
- Yes, you can read any of these books in any order, but there are events of previous books that they sorta expect you to know in this one and I was confused and intrigued. Almost enough to go back and start from the beginning of the series.

Overall, I'm glad I started with this book in the whole series because I'm actually considering reading the previous books. Not sure if I will, but I'll be thinking about it for a while. A quick, fun read!

Another great read in a series that just keeps getting more and more interesting. I can't wait to see the rest of the boys find their loves and see what kind o drama it takes for them to claim their woman.

“Ah, hell,” Alick muttered behind them. “The women are thinking. Ye ken there’s always trouble when the women start in thinking.”

If you’ve read any of Lynsay Sands other Highlander novels, this one is cut from the same cloth.

In a case of mistaken identity, Lady Evina kidnaps Conrad Maclean thinking he’s the healer Rory to help with her ailing father. Whoops.

“I raised ye better than this, lass. Ye can no’ run about kidnapping naked men and bringing them home, no matter how handsome and strapping and well-hung they are.”

He gets over his kidnapping rather quickly, really it was just a misunderstanding. And then sparks fly between Conrad and Evina.

It’s cute and funny. If you’re wanting a light historical romance with some humor, this might be the book for you.

So this was my first Lynsay Sands novel. I'm surprised that it wasn't her vampire work, but this was looked intriguing. I had so much fun reading this. I've never read a highlander romance, but I'm looking forward to more.

The Plot was a fun and ridiculous premise that I love seeing in any romance subgenre. It quickly brought me in and I listened through the audiobook fairly quickly. The story was really charming.

I do think that the author tries to create conflict that wasn't that engaging. So it had a great start, but the conflict introduced later on seemed unnecessary when all the drama that was needed could have just revolved over the "Will They, Won't They?" But she introduced an outside antagonist that I was so over. I just wanted more tense moments between our couple.

It was fun nonetheless! Will read some of the other well liked booked in this series ♥

I cannot quit this series. It’s ridiculous, historically off-the-rails, full of moments of questionable consent, a high number of attempted murders (to the point that the characters joke about them), and some of my least favorite tropes (this one has a virgin widow).

But it’s ridiculous and fun and OF COURSE I’ll line up to read the next one. I can’t quit before all the brothers have been paired off.

Evina's father is deathly ill and she rides to Buchanan looking for Rory Buchanan and is told he's out gathering medicinals by the waterfall, when they arrive they find Conran bathing in the falls and assume he's Rory, things don't go exactly to plan and Evina winds up knocking him out so they tie his naked body to his horse and take off for their home.
When they arrive home and find her father still alive and Conran realizes what happened to him he decides to roll with it and starts treating the old Laird(thankfully he helps Rory often with his healing) eventually he recovers and decides to set up Conran and and his daughter.
The typical Sands story beats follow and as always it's entertaining.
