I've never read anything by Courtney Summers, but after finishing All the Rage, I want to read all of her works. The writing in this was beautiful and Summers described Romy's emotions in a way that feels incredibly raw. I have never read a book about this subject matter that felt so terribly real. The story definietly has a bit of a slow start, but it adds to the overall tone of the story.

Wow. That's all I'm left with. Just wow. What gets me is that some girls have lived it. All The Rage is heart-wrenching and terrible but Courtney Summers still made it an incredible read. I felt anger welling up inside me for Romy and sadness and that feeling of nothing-ness. It's bad enough not having someone believe you about something, but then to have every one in your school retaliate and hate you? And then add a missing girl on top of it? Goodness, than pain I felt for Romy.

Trigger warning: Rape
There are so many ways writing a book like this could go wrong. In the end, I think Courtney Summers did a great job. I was pulled in and given just a glimpse of something so awful.

Courtney did not hold back—nor did she disappoint! This book is so raw at times it really breaks your heart, but it’s such a real and important story, even when it’s hard to read. The way Courtney shifted the point of view and time really emphasized just how traumatic this experience was for Romy and how the simplest things could send her spiraling back to that awful moment.

As a reader who’s often drawn to interesting character relationships, I also couldn’t help but notice what a compelling mother-daughter story was happening here. Their relationship evolves quietly and organically in the background as they’re both desperately trying to protect each other from hurt without really knowing how to talk to each other.

All the Rage pulled me in from the first few pages. It was well written, poetic, and very realistic. From the way Romy (who is a victim) became a pariah. To the way class dictates what you can get away with. I don't know if a love interest should have been involved. I kept thinking that a guy would have given up even before Leon knew that truth. I also thought it was strange that Romy never bumped into her rapist. It was mentioned that he was in town. I did wish I knew more about Penny and Romy's friendship as well. We are given brief glimpses. All in all I'm going to be searching out anything else this author has written.
