Rebels & Rejects

R.A. Smyth

4.08 AVERAGE

RA Smyth has done it again. This new series seemed interesting when a few of the characters made an appearance in her last series (highly recommend) but I didn’t realize how hooked I would become after one book. This author excels at writing strong heroines who stand up for themselves, what they believe in and who they deem important in their life.

I love that the author was able to incorporate a few aspects from her last series but it’s not a prerequisite in order to enjoy this series. Again, I would highly recommend that series.

If the strong FMC doesn’t attract you to the book then the men and story definitely will. Each of the men bring something different to their interactions with FMC and to one another. An added bonus is a bit of a mystery man who I know is going to bring the drama in the next book.

There is a decent amount of world building and introductions because this is the first book of the series. It does flow naturally and you become more interested in the events and characters.

No surprise, I’m already ready for the next book.

Love this book. RA Smyth is now a fave after I read this and I’m working through the others in the universe and so excited for more of Black Creek. The characters are great- the story is wonderful- and the sexy bits are hot AF.

Ever since we came across this group in Pacific Prep, I’ve been wanting to read about their world. I was not disappointed! I love Sawyer; she’s bad AF. I liked the setup and some of the background information we were given. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I am beyond ready to dive into them again. Please don’t make me wait long.

Amazing start to the series!!

Once again, Rachel nailed it with the first book of the series!!

I love meeting the new characters, learning more about them! But also sooo eager to know more

After reading the Pacific Prep series by R. A. Smyth, I was so excited to read this next series/spin-off! I just love this authors writing style.

I was unfamiliar with RA’s writing simply because my TBR list is a mile long and she is DEFINITELY on it, but when this gem popped up for me to review before release; I was ecstatic.

Sawyer is a badass, not taking crap from anyone chick with a heart of gold. She does what she can to provide for her little brother in the dangerous town they live in filled with gangs and violence. Her relationships forming with Cain and Oliver from the Rejects gang was becoming VERY interesting… I was on the edge of my seat the entire book waiting to see what she would be mixed up with next! If life didn’t get in the way, I would have read the whole thing in one sitting.

The spice was minimal, but GREAT when it appeared. I imagine now that we have the vase of the characters and plot, the spice will heat up….

Cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!

This book kicks ass. It had a good amount of spice, tension, angry banter, and a helluva good plot line. The characters were deliciously morally grey. Vengeance and retribution pumps through the pages of this book, and I was in love with every single second.

It really says screw the patriarchy with all the men thinking that The Reaper (a murderer) was a man. Hem hem. I think not. Sawyer really said screw the patriarchy and I love that for her. We love a female killer here. Honestly I may have a little girl crush on Sawyer. She had a swagger that is addicting, just like this book. I cannot wait to get my eager hands on the next one!!

Author: R.A. Smyth

Couple: Red with Oliver and Cain

Tropes: why choose, dark romance, enemy to lovers, mercenary FMC, morally gray MCs, RH, gang romance

Review: Rebels and Rejects is the beginning of Cain’s and Oliver’s story who are briefly introduced in R.A. Smyth’s Pacific Prep series and the wait was worth it! This first book introduces two of the four men in REd’s harem and we begin to learn the twisted backstory of the infamous Rebels Reject gang in Black Creek. The way Smyth developed the plot lines of the characters intersecting in this book was intense and I loved getting to see all the facets of who Red was when she becomes entrenched in the Rebels.

Book 1 deals mostly with the Rejects and Red moving on from her intense dislike of gang life. Her character begins to grow in this book but mainly shows us how layered she is. I loved how she was a fierce FMC who could go head to head with Cain and then soften herself for Oliver. However, the best thing about her to me in this book was her relationship with her brother Luc. Smyth really spent time delving into the bond they had and made a point to expand on why she was so protective of him which gave us insight into why she was hesitant to trust Cain and Oliver.

Oliver and Cain cannot be more different as characters. I enjoyed the ying and yang vibes that had since Oliver was the sunnier and more optimistic leader and Cain was the silent, broody and quick to anger one. When Red sends their carefully laid plans into chaos, I enjoyed how Oliver was the one who tried to keep the peace between them. Even though Oliver is the one who is more open in this book, Cain was the one who led the show for me. I LOVED how he and Red were like different sides of the same coin and how combative and volatile they were together. I also enjoyed how she broke down his walls…or began to.

The three of them are explosive to say the least and Red keeps her cards close to her chest still at the end. The tension she and Oliver have upon meeting spurs them on to grow closer but also pushes them to define what they are sooner. Cain and her are filled with angst and chemistry from the initial meeting they have and it only overflows from there.

Rating: 4/5, a dark and thrilling start to Red’s story!

*ARC REVIEW*
This book is a Slow burn, mafia, enemies to lovers & reverse harem. Immediately after reading the book description i knew I’d love it.

Red’s a strong and independent MC with just the perfect amount crazy. Cain and Oliver know what they want and they’re gonna get it. Mix the alphaholes with the snarky, independent woman and the chemistry is off the charts!

I honestly can not wait until book two comes out. I want more about Dante and Enzo! I want more Red, Oliver and Cain!
