Intriguing, fictionalized account of the very real mystery surrounding the disappearance of author Agatha Christie in the 1920s. A study in plot, intrigue, and unreliable narrators. Whose story do you believe? I came away with a new appreciation for Mrs. Christie's body of work. She was quite a dame!
This is definitely my favorite yet of Marie Benedict's books. Like her, I am a fan of Agatha Christie's mysteries. Benedict's book is a wonderful mystery in and of itself while containing many elements of Agatha's life.
In a way, the books Marie Benedict have written could count as mysteries unveiled. She takes facts of a person's life and uses those nuggets around which to construct the person's story. Yet, she writes historical fiction because she was not present to garner the full force of that person's reality. Hence, it is a mystery that she is trying to solve.
In any case, I didn't want to put this book down, and that is what usually happens when reading a mystery that resonates with me. So, if you like Agatha Christie, if you like a good mystery, and if you have curiosity about the explanation for the reason Christie disappeared (this is a fact), you will likely enjoy this book.

Agatha Christie’s life is so compelling—I think we would have been friends. Maybe it was what was happening in my life while reading but I could not get into this book… until the end. Seeing her empowered to stand up against Archie made the struggle worth it.

Definitely interesting. Curious the perspective of a Christie fan, as I knew very little about her prior to reading. Compelled to read some Agatha Christie now.
