Incredible. The seamless way the author depicts so perfectly how two people can go through the same circumstances and yet experience them so differently is incredible!!! And the portrayal of different dynamics of families was deep and nuanced; how children can perceive their parents’ relationships with their siblings so differently (the brother thinking their parents only love his sister because she gets good grades and he doesn’t, while the sister thinks their parents only love her brother because they never praise her for doing so well). It was an intricate look into a family through the years and yet it was so relatable!

Holy shit! What did I just read! Brilliantly written, the ending was perfect! My heart is so full of emotions and it just makes me think, does Papa feel the same? My goodness this took me a while to read, but this book will hold a special place in my heart, right after A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini.
