I really enjoyed this. I haven't read the original since this is what they had at the libary, but now I plan to seek it out. The stories written were fascinating and a couple adorable. It feels like a great anthology that builds to this world.

The creator of the Mouse Guard series chooses a list of other artists and writers who all contribute short vignettes to this book, all set within the Mouse Guard world. Each story is very short and simply told, and is perfect for kids who are getting into world building stories but are not ready (or don't want to) invest in long, drawn out narratives.

Reminded me in some ways of the Redwall series. I thought the illustrations were spot on and each story was unique and interesting. I have never read any of the Mouse Guard books before, but will definitely be seeking them out.

*Michigan Author.

This collection of stories in the Mouse Guard universe by an assortment of writers and illustrators is nice, but not particularly interesting. Some of the stories don't even make much sense, and the one the character chooses as the winner is not even a story.

I enjoyed it and everything, but this is my least favorite Mouse Guard book. The idea behind it is really neat: different mice telling tales at a pub. This creates a really good excuse for why there is such different art for each tale. There are some talented people behind these stories and it's especially cool that Petersen picked them all. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who hasn't read the other books or didn't like them. It compliments the Mouse Guard universe well, it's just not my favorite. I'll probably still read the others though!

beyond the primary artist, I didn't care for the illustrations much. styles varied a lot, which felt disjointed to me. mostly, I wanted to stay in the inn.
