Never mind the discussion about whether it's a great, dark, whimsical, modern short story (it is) or whether the art is a perfect match for the prose (it is). Those are beside the point. Think about the best cup of coffee you've ever had (mine is a home-made Taormina from Caffe d'Arte beans) or the best beer (Trappist Rochefort 10 or Westvleteren XII, tied) or the best Scotch if that's what you drink. Think about how you felt when you finished it.

That's how I felt when I finished this. That's what matters.
Go and buy it. You will read it many, many times. I know I plan to.

I was looking forward to reading this, only because I thought it was a graphic novel. I wasn’t that disappointed when it wasn’t. It’s okay, nothing special though. It’s a good retelling of Sleeping Beauty but nothing else. Still glad I read it if only to satiate my want for it.

Loooved this. The story is really nice, with some feminist undertones and great twists in two greatly loved and popular fairytales, and the illustrations enhanced the story SO much (especially when they're black and white, with just the smallest of gold aka my fav color in the world).
Honestly, I think I will keep this in my heart as "show it to the daughter/son figure" in my life.

This was pretty much my introduction to Neil Gaiman and I thought this was a really good book! It exceeded expectations and kept me drawn in and engaged and still had a bit of the creep factor (for lack of a better word) that Gaiman is apparently famous for? Very good. Would read again. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
